Timothy Gregoire
Timothy G. Gregoire is a member of the senior faculty at the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES), Yale University, where he received his Ph. D. in 1985. His areas of expertise span many aspects of applied statistics, including statistical modeling, sampling methods, and spatial statistics. He has authored more than 200 articles which have been published in scientific journals and elsewhere, as well as three books dealing with statistical methods, including the 2008 textbook on “Sampling Strategies for Natural Resources and the Environment”. In recognition of his accomplishments he has been elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, as well as the American Statistical Association. Tim has also served as both President and
Treasurer of the International Biometric Society. Since 2009 he has worked closely with the Forest Resources Management Division of the Ministry of Agriculture & Environment for the Royal Government of Bhutan. During that time he has advised on the planning and implementation of its National Forest Inventory and on the compilation of the results from the NFI. He has also served as the academic advisor to many students from Bhutan who have been enrolled in the Master’s degree program of study at F&ES. These have included civil servants from FRMD, from the National Environment Commission, and from the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature. Tim also has longstanding and close ties with the Bhutan Foundation.
