Tokyo Youth Summit
In collaboration with the Global Citizens Initiative (GCI), we are thrilled to announce that the applications for the Sixth Annual GCI Fellowship are now open!
The GCI Fellowship will kick off with a 10-day Global Citizens Youth Summit in Tokyo, Japan from July 25- August 3, 2019.
We are also pleased to announce our second Professional Development Seminar taking place in Tokyo, JAPAN from July 29 – August 2, 2019.
Please kindly share our application with your school community and take a moment to nominate three or four students and/or at least one faculty member to apply.

The GCI Fellowship
Eligibility
Secondary school students: Current Freshmen, Sophomores or Juniors, who will be 16-18 years old by July 25, 2019
If the first language or secondary school’s language of instruction is not English, Scores from either the TOEFL (over 95), TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test (over 180), or the Eiken exam (Level 1).
Commitment
Must commit to attend the Global Citizens Youth Summit in Tokyo, Japan from July 25- August 3, 2019, in its entirety
Must commit to the 10-Month Fellowship to launch a Global Service Project
What we are looking for
Students with global leadership potential who want to make a positive difference in the world
Eager to participate in group discussions about global issues

Application Form

The application requires an application fee. Financial aid is available on an as-needed and limited basis; financial aid need must be indicated and all forms completed during the initial application.
Timeline
January 31 at 11:59 PM EST: Deadline to apply, no exceptions. (Parents/Guardians will be required to provide contact information to verify student has permission.)
January-March: Interviews for final candidate selection
March 25: Acceptance letters sent out
April 1: Commitment to enroll due
May 1: All Enrollment forms and tuition due
June 1: All medical and travel forms due, no exceptions
Late June: Pre-Summit Webinar, required for students and their parents.
Professional Development Seminar
Eligibility
Secondary school educators
Professional Development Seminar is built upon an immersive learning experience that encourages public speaking, group discussions, and active class participation. To succeed, educators must possess a highly developed proficiency in written and oral English.
Commitment
Must commit to attend the Professional Development Seminar from July 29 – August 2, 2019, in its entirety
What we are looking for
Educators aspiring to include discussion-based learning in their classroom
Educators who would consider implementing aspects of the GCI Method in their classroom
